History

With its 2000 years of history, represents an ancient custom about the land and its inhabitants as well as the leaders and famous personalities.

Inhabited since prehistoric times, the first castrum was built in the Roman age as a defense and control structure of Via Claudia Augusta Imperiale, which connected the Adriatic to the north of Europe. Over the centuries, the castle has undergone various enlargements: it was the residence of De Camino family, who surrounded it entirely with imposing Guelph-style decorative battlements and built a central tower. The castle then passed under the control of the Venetian Republic, which awarded its fiefdom first to Marin Faliero and then to the mercenary captains Giovanni Brandolino and Erasmo da Narni, better known as the Gattamelata. In the sixteenth century, with the Brandolini family, the castle was enlarged in the central part with a Sansovino style who impressed a Venetian elegance.

The latest to emerge is the eighteenth part with a horseshoe shape designed by Ottavio Scotti from Treviso; a classical linear imposing structure. It remained Conti Brandolini’s property until 1959, when it was sold to the Salesians Fathers who adapted it to use as a center for spiritual studies. In 1998, was purchased and completely restored by the family Colomban who gave it back to its greatest splendour.
