With this tour, which takes place within the halls of the Accademia Gallery, you can admire some of its most prominent representatives such as Carpaccio, Bellini, Giorgione, Tiziano, Veronese, and Tintoretto.
Founded in 1806 by the French in origin as the Academy of Fine Arts, had his first exhibition space in two historical buildings, the Church of Charity and the homonymous school. It was initially intended to accommodate the numerous works of art from the dismantling churches and monasteries destroyed or used for other purposes by the Bonaparte but was later expanded with a new building in the nineteenth century and enriched over time through acquisitions and donations.
The Accademia Galleries with our art history tours
In the Galleries of Accademia, you will admire the largest collection of Venetian painting by introducing a great selection of works belonging to four centuries of painting; however, placing a greater emphasis on the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
The art history tours end nearby the Church of Gesuati overlooking the Giudecca Canal. Inside you can still admire the extraordinary cycle of the Madonna of the Rosary painted by the greatest Venetian painter of the eighteenth century, Giambattista Tiepolo.
Our tours are run with authorized guides who are all graduates in art history, therefore with considerable knowledge of the millennia of this city and the transformation that has occurred over the centuries. An interesting walking tour in the heart of Venice.
