This was thanks to the musical abilities of Adrian Willaert, who arrived in Venice in 1527 at the age of thirty-seven, where he held the prestigious post of professor in the Chapel of St Cappelle. Adrian was asked to bring back to Venice the music that had been undervalued by the Roman school. Thus began the advent of many composers who, for almost two centuries, raised Venetian school music to the highest standards, significantly contributing to the baroque music era.
