The city of art
The city of Florence Italy is situated in the homonymous province in the Tuscany region and known as a city of art with its priceless cultural heritage.
From 1865 to 1871 was the capital of Italy covering an important role in the cultural, commercial, economic and financial. In a more recent period was the capital of the Duchy under the rule of the Medici and Lorraine families.
Piazza della Signoria is considered the heart of the city with its gallery of the Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi with the nearby Galleria degli Uffizi considered one of the most important museums in the world. Not far away is the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with the largest dome ever built, the cathedral with its bell tower by Giotto and the Baptistery of San Giovanni.
Florence is surrounded by lush green hills with noble houses and is crossed by the Arno River that divides the city in two. Ponte Vecchio is particularly appreciated for its jewelery shops located inside the small wooden houses and where, still breathes the atmosphere of yesteryear.
