Abstract Expressionism

Abstract Expressionism is an art movement that developed in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s. If you’d like to organize an abstract expressionism-inspired team building, here are some ideas to consider.

Action painting, also known as Abstract Expressionism, is a style in which the paint is thrown or spontaneously dripped onto the canvas.

In this painting, the physicality of the oil-encrusted canvas surfaces expressed the artists’ existential struggle.

Participants will be provided with canvas, acrylic paints and brushes to work together and create an abstract work of art. Free expression and interaction between group members will be valued while painting on canvas.

Ideas for team building based on Abstract Expressionism

To find inspiration, we will introduce participants to famous artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Willem de Kooning. We will provide images of their works and discuss their styles and techniques.

Participants will have to create art inspired by these artists. This activity can foster creativity and stimulate discussion about art and inspiration.

The movement of the body to express emotions

Through movement or dance, participants can express their emotions.

Encourage communication and awareness

Abstract artworks will be shown, and participants will be asked to interpret them. This activity encourages communication and critical reflection. The different perspectives can lead to interesting discussions about different ways of perceiving and interpreting art.

Abstract Expressionism often invites observation of emotions and connection with one’s inner self. Through a mindfulness or guided meditation session, we will invite participants to reflect on their emotions and find inspiration from within.

This practice can promote self-awareness and mental tranquility and allows each individual to get in touch with their subconscious and release all the negative and positive energies that lurk within it.

For successful team building, we tailor the activities to the group’s preferences and needs. We will encourage free artistic expression throughout the event.

The activity can be carried out outdoors or indoors in a dedicated room where the customer stays or directly at the company headquarters.
